Hi, I'm Kilian. I use he/him pronouns. On this website, I present my work, which reflects me and my design identity very well.
For me, design is the gateway to previously unimagined experiential worlds that I want to make tangible for people on as many levels as possible. I do not believe that design always has to be purely functional. It is important for me to show that we don't have to be afraid of being humorous, extroverted, and provocative.
My own work consists of immersive, narrative, and conceptually complex projects that consciously question social constructs such as the "status quo" or "normativity." In my view, courageous and diverse design is more forward-looking, culturally, and socially relevant than ever, and has the ability to process societal and cultural topics in a subversive way without appropriation and discrimination.
Currently, I am studying for a Master's degree in "Intermedia Design" at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen. In 2025, I completed my Bachelor of Arts in Interior Architecture at Coburg University, receiving the "bdia anerkannt!" award from the Association of German Interior Architects (Bund Deutscher Innenarchitekt*innen) for my thesis.
I see myself as an interdisciplinary, spatial designer. I don't want to create fictional utopias, but real experiences that emotionally stimulate people and leave a lasting impression. Meanwhile I am not afraid to test out new and different approaches. Just because a path is considered "safe", "logical" or "the one everyone else takes" doesn't mean that other possibilities are not worth a try. What I like to see, what I like to create is not "safe", not "logical", not "slick".What I want to work towards is to show people that a design practice that reflects dreams, has lore and is highly experimental is as honest and serious as any other.
I do not consider my work to be art. I want to design physical, conceptual and theoretical spaces that bridge sound, interior architecture, literature, fashion, product design, science, theatre and movement. I understand space as something far more than just physical. It can be conceptual, associative and emotional. I pursue an intermedial approach while respecting fundamental design principles and technical feasibility.
